SCIENTIFIC AND METHODOLOGICAL WORK

of the Faculty of Special Education

The scientific and methodological work of the faculty plays a crucial role in both personal professional development and enhancing the quality of educational components. It allows for the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical experience in working with individuals with special needs.

Main Directions of Scientific and Methodological Work:

1. Educational and Methodological Activities:

  • Development of syllabi for educational components.
  • Creation of educational and methodological materials (manuals, guidelines, practical handbooks, etc.).
  • Implementation of innovative teaching technologies (interactive methods, project-based learning, case-study methods, etc.).
  • Development of materials for distance learning (online courses, video lectures, interactive tasks) and their placement on the KSU Online platform (https://ksuonline.kspu.edu/).

2. Scientific Research Activities:

  • Conducting theoretical and applied research in the field of special and inclusive education.
  • Participation in national and international scientific projects and grants.
  • Publication of research findings in high-impact academic journals (categories A and B).
  • Participation in scientific conferences, seminars, and symposiums.
  • Supervision of students’ research projects.
  • Conducting experimental studies in educational and rehabilitation institutions.

3. Organizational and Methodological Activities:

  • Participation in methodological associations and commissions.
  • Organization and facilitation of methodological seminars and workshops for educators and students.
  • Establishing partnerships with educational and rehabilitation institutions.
  • Development of professional development programs for specialists in special education.
  • Organizing student practical training in special education institutions, inclusive resource centers, and general education institutions with inclusive learning.

4. Advisory Activities:

  • Providing consultations for students and graduates on issues related to special and inclusive education.
  • Offering methodological assistance to practicing educators working with children with special needs.
  • Consulting parents of children with developmental disorders.
  • Conducting expert evaluations of educational programs and methodological recommendations.

This comprehensive scientific and methodological work not only improves the quality of future specialists' training but also contributes to the overall development of the special and inclusive education system by implementing innovative approaches and technologies in practice.

Results of the Faculty’s Scientific and Methodological Work:

1. Development of Scientific and Methodological Approaches

The faculty has developed scientific and methodological approaches to preparing future specialists in special and inclusive education. These include:

  • A set of organizational and pedagogical conditions for integrated training of speech therapists and special educators in higher education institutions, including the implementation of distance learning technologies (Yakovleva S.D., 2020; Kabelnikova N.V., 2020).
  • The implementation of inclusive education in general education institutions (Lavrykova O.V., 2020).
  • The professionalization of the educational process in a digital learning environment for future special education teachers (Yakovleva S.D., 2021).

The application of these research results has strengthened the scientific foundation of professional training in special education (016 Specialty), particularly in delivering correctional and developmental services to individuals with special educational needs under crisis conditions.

2. Research on the Psychophysical Development of Children with Special Educational Needs

  • Studies on higher mental functions in children and adolescents with various developmental disorders and their impact on learning and socialization (Yakovleva, 2021; Drozd L.V., 2023; Lyashko V.V., 2019).
  • Research on psychophysiological characteristics of individuals with special needs and their integration into correctional and developmental work (Yakovleva S.D., 2022).

These studies have generated new data on the psychophysical development of children with special needs, which have been incorporated into the correctional and educational processes of special and inclusive institutions.

3. Development of Correctional and Developmental Methods and Technologies

  • Speech therapy:

    • Methods for developing psycholinguistic prerequisites for speech formation in children with delayed speech development (Ilyina N.V., 2021).
    • Formation of lexical and grammatical competence in primary school children with severe speech disorders (Kabelnikova N.V., 2021).
    • Improvement of pedagogical approaches to teaching students with severe speech impairments (Kabelnikova N.V., 2021).
    • Neuropsychological foundations of corrective preparation for children with autism to master writing (Ilyina N.V., 2021).

  • Correctional Psychopedagogy:

    • Methods for teaching daily living skills to children with autism spectrum disorders (Drozd L.V., 2022).
    • A comprehensive approach to restoring motor and psychomotor functions in children with autism (Drozd L.V., 2023).
    • A neurophysiological approach to supporting children with psychophysical developmental disorders (Yakovleva S.D., 2019).

  • Developmental Programs:

    • A correctional and developmental program for goal-setting skills in adolescents in special education institutions (Drozd L.V., 2020).
    • Correctional and developmental classes for improving goal-setting skills in teenagers with special needs (Drozd L.V., 2020).

4. Strengthening Psychological and Pedagogical Support in Inclusive Education

  • Research on teacher-assistant collaboration in implementing the New Ukrainian School concept (Yakovleva S.D., 2019).
  • Interactive teaching methods for developing teamwork among educators in inclusive education (Kabelnikova N.V., 2020).
  • Social and psychological support strategies for children with special needs in secondary education institutions (Drozd L.V., 2021).

This extensive research contributes significantly to improving the quality of special and inclusive education and integrating evidence-based practices into educational settings.
