KSU professor presented research on the quality of life of Ukrainian refugees at an international conference
On September 28, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Trauma-informed approaches to supporting mental health and developing psychological resilience in conditions of societal crises», Kherson State University was represented by Anzhelika Kolli-Shamne — Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Psychology.
Her presentation, "Indicators and Predictors of Quality of Life of Ukrainian Refugees in European Countries," focused on how the experience of forced displacement is linked to the physical health, psychological well-being, social relationships, and living conditions of Ukrainians abroad.
The study results indicated a decline in the quality of life for a significant portion of refugees, particularly women. Factors associated with all surveyed domains of quality of life included post-displacement stressors, the perception of life before the war as better than the present, and psychological resilience.
The presentation highlighted the importance of support that helps alleviate the everyday hardships of life in migration while simultaneously strengthening the psychological resilience of people forced to leave their homes due to the war.
We would like to thank Anzhelika Kolli-Shamne for her important research and for representing KSU on the international scientific platform.
Ahead are new presentations and discussions on how to support mental health and strengthen psychological resilience in times of societal crisis.
