KSU scientists presented reports at an international workshop in Vienna and Budapest
Representatives of Kherson State University took part in the international week-long workshop «Situated Knowledge: Scientific/Academic and Public Positioning/Communication for Ukrainian Scholars» («Situated Knowledge: Scientific/Academic and Public Positioning/Communication for Ukrainian Scholars»).
Kherson State University is represented at the workshop by scientists from the Department of Geography and Ecology, this year's participants in the VUIAS academic program - Professor, Doctor of Geographical Sciences Daria Malchykova and Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor Mykola Homaniuk.
The event takes place May 17–22 in Vienna and Budapest at the Central European University (CEU) campuses in Vienna and Budapest, with the participation of scientists from leading European and American universities.
The organizers are the Virtual Ukraine Institute for Advanced Study and the CEU Institute for Advanced Study.
The workshop is dedicated to the role of Ukrainian scientists in the global academic space under the conditions of war, the challenges of public communication, academic freedom, the international visibility of Ukrainian research, and the participation of Ukrainian scholars in shaping modern humanitarian and social discourse.
During the international discussion «Cities in Times of War: Reconstruction, Mobility, and Belonging» («Cities in Times of War: reconstruction, mobility, and a sense of belonging») Daria Malchykova presented the report «Front-Line De-occupied Cities: Transformative Shifts in Everyday Life, Labour, and Recovery Trajectories», dedicated to transformations of life, labor, and recovery in frontline de-occupied cities.
Mykola Homaniuk delivered a report «Plural Frames of Remembrance in Ukraine in Times of War», in which he addressed the issues of forming memory and social narratives in Ukraine under the conditions of war.
"Research by scientists from our native frontline Kherson region is part of international discussions about war, memory, recovery, and the future of Ukraine.
For KSU, participation in such international academic events is extremely important, as it allows not only to present Ukrainian and Kherson experience to the global scientific community but also to integrate the university into global intellectual networks", - noted KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskyi.
