KSU representatives present research at an international summit in Krakow
The Kherson State University team is participating in the international Thematic Summit on physical sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities and energy.
The event takes place on May 19–20 in Krakow (Poland) as part of the RIFF – Research Infrastructures for the Future of Ukraine («Research Infrastructures for the Future of Ukraine») project of the National Synchrotron Radiation Center SOLARIS at Jagiellonian University.
Kherson State University is represented by First Vice-Rector Serhii Omelchuk, Vice-Rector for Internationalization Alla Tsapiv, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law Kateryna Melnykova, and Head of the Department of History, Archaeology, and Teaching Methodology Natalia Kuzovova.
Within the framework of the summit, KSU representatives are participating in scientific discussions, networking events, and meetings with researchers and partners from EU countries.
On the first day, the summit opening took place, with speeches by:
- Jakub Szlachetko - representative of NSRC SOLARIS;
- Ondrej Gradiľ - representative of Masaryk University (MUNI). Presentation of the RIFF project;
- Frederik Søndergaard - representative of the European Commission's DG RTD. Presentation topic: «International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine»;
- Yevheniia Polishchuk. Presentation topic: «The Role of the Scientific Diaspora in Rebuilding Ukraine's Research Infrastructure»;
- Michał Mlinarczyk — representative of NSRC SOLARIS. Presentation topic: «The Ecosystem of Research Infrastructure in Europe.</li>
Subsequently, the events continued in parallel sessions focusing on specific summit themes.
During the second day of the summit, Serhii Omelchuk and Alla Tsapiv will present a report titled «Gender Equality at the Institutional Level: A Thematic Study of Official Documents and Websites of the Government and Institutions of Ukraine».
"For Kherson State University, participating in such a summit is an opportunity to present our own scientific potential and another step toward deepening integration into the European Research Area. Today, it is extremely important for Ukrainian universities to be active participants in international scientific dialogue, to contribute to the formation of future research policies, and to become part of European academic networks.
The RIFF project is of strategic importance for Ukraine, as it aims to integrate Ukrainian research infrastructures into the European ESFRI networks and strengthen cooperation between the Ukrainian and European scientific communities.
It is precisely such initiatives that form the foundation for the country's post-war recovery through science, innovation, and international partnership. It is particularly valuable that the results of the summit in Krakow will be taken into account during the formation of the RIFF Roadmap for the recovery and development of Ukraine's research infrastructures. This means that Ukrainian universities, including KSU, are directly involved today in determining the state's future scientific priorities and strengthening Ukraine's position in the European academic space.
