A masterclass on working as a journalist on camera was held at KSU
As part of the week of in-person learning at the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology, Journalism and Arts of Kherson State University, students and the guarantor of the «Journalism» educational program, Andrii Solomakhin, participated in a practical masterclass «A Journalist's Work on Camera» at the Center for Journalistic Solidarity and the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Union of Journalists.
The event's speaker was Valentyna Pestushko – a KSU student, practicing journalist, and war correspondent. During the meeting, she shared her own professional experience working in frontline Kherson, specifically - in front of the camera, and spoke about the basic requirements for a journalist's appearance, behavior on camera, and principles of interaction with a camera operator.
The speaker paid special attention to working under stress, specifically - during the coverage of events in the combat zone. Students learned how to carry themselves correctly in front of the camera, control emotions, and clearly formulate thoughts during a live broadcast.
Separately, participants were introduced to the basic principles of working with a camera, specifically lighting setup: how to position light correctly, when to use natural or artificial lighting, and how to avoid unwanted shadows in the frame.
The event became an important stage in the professional training of future journalists, as it allowed them not only to acquire new knowledge but also to better understand the specifics of a journalist's work on camera.
