On 27 October 2026, an English-language workshop entitled “Education in a Changing World” was held at the Faculty of Philology, Journalism and Arts of Kherson State University as part of the on-campus study week. The workshop was conducted by Dr Olena Stavenko, Lecturer at the Department of Romance and Germanic Languages and Intercultural Communication.

The workshop took place in a hybrid format, bringing together students attending in person and online participants joining via Zoom. Maryaa Bibi, a representative of Arden University (United Kingdom), also joined the event, providing an opportunity for international communication, intercultural exchange and discussion of current issues in education.

The workshop aimed to enhance students’ English-language communicative competence while developing their critical thinking, argumentation and collaborative skills through discussions of contemporary educational trends and challenges.

During the session, participants explored the advantages and disadvantages of traditional face-to-face, online and blended learning, modern approaches to assessment, the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence in education, the importance of foreign language learning and the role of lifelong learning in professional development.

Particular attention was paid to practical activities involving scenario-based tasks. Working in small groups, students analysed educational dilemmas related to the responsible use of AI tools, choosing individual educational pathways and balancing learning for career development with learning for personal fulfilment. Participants proposed solutions, justified their opinions, exchanged perspectives and responded to one another’s arguments in English.

The hybrid format created a shared communicative environment for both on-campus and online participants. A total of 16 participants attended the workshop in person and online. The combination of interactive activities, group discussions and international communication enabled students to integrate English-language practice with the development of communication, teamwork and analytical skills.

Events of this kind contribute to the implementation of interactive teaching methods, strengthen international cooperation and create opportunities for intercultural communication within the educational environment of Kherson State University. They also support the principles of Internationalisation at Home, enabling students to engage in meaningful international experiences without travelling abroad.
