Within the framework of the week of in-person learning at the Faculty of Business and Law of Kherson State University, a series of educational and practice-oriented meetings took place, organized by the Department of National, International Law and Law Enforcement. Students of KSU and Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University participated in the events.

The joint educational program brought together future lawyers from two universities around topical issues of international law, human rights protection, cybersecurity, and legal practice. Participants had the opportunity to communicate with scientists, representatives of state institutions, and practicing lawyers. International human rights standards. One of the events was an open lecture «International and European Human Rights Standards,» delivered by Lyubomyr Zynych, PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Constitutional, International, and Administrative Law of the Educational and Scientific Law Institute of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

During the meeting, students discussed the role of international legal norms in modern legal practice, analyzed practical cases, and asked questions regarding the application of European human rights protection standards. The lecture served as a platform for professional dialogue and knowledge exchange between students and faculty of the partner universities.

Human rights protection under martial law. Another joint meeting took place at the regional office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ombudsman for Human Rights in Ivano-Frankivsk. Students of KSU and Carpatian University participated in a lecture-presentation «Activities of the Human Rights Ombudsman under Martial Law.» Future lawyers learned about the specifics of the regional representative office of the Ombudsman, the mechanisms for recording violations of citizens' rights and freedoms, and the response to them. Particular attention was paid to the organization of assistance to internally displaced persons and other vulnerable populations, as well as international cooperation in the field of human rights protection during armed conflict. For students, this was an opportunity to see how human rights protection mechanisms work in practice, especially under the conditions of full-scale war.

Cybersecurity and combating online fraud. Issues of security in the digital space were the theme of a joint meeting of students from two universities with Irina Tsesar, an operational officer of the cybercrime prevention department in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of the Cyber Police Department.

During the event «Combating Online Fraud: Types of Fraud, Methods of Counteraction,» participants learned about common fraudulent schemes and practical ways to protect against cyber threats. The cyber police representative also presented the «Brama» project — an initiative aimed at countering illegal content, online fraud, and hostile disinformation. Students of KSU and Carpatian University joined the discussion on digital literacy and security issues, which are essential components of professional legal training today.

The profession of a lawyer: experience, ethics, and career prospects. A practical component of the in-person week was complemented by a meeting of students of the «Law» specialty with Maria Ivanishcheva — managing partner of the «Evolution» law firm, lawyer, and human rights defender.

In the format of an open conversation, participants discussed the features of the modern legal services market, the organization of a law firm's work, the importance of human rights activities, and professional ethics. A separate topic was the career prospects of young lawyers and the development of professional and communication skills even during their studies. The meeting gave students the opportunity to receive practical advice from a professional and better understand the requirements of the modern legal profession.

Joint activities within the framework of the in-person training week served as an example of effective interaction between Kherson State University and Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. For KSU, which continues to operate under relocation, such a partnership opens additional opportunities for the practical training of students, the involvement of specialists from various fields, and the development of an inter-university educational environment.

Kateryna Melnykova, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at KSU, expressed gratitude to colleagues from Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University for their cooperation, support, and the joint organization of educational activities. She also thanked the lecturers, representatives of the regional office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ombudsman for Human Rights, the cyber police, and the legal community for their openness to dialogue and readiness to share professional experience.
