On October 5, Yevheniia Revenko, Head of the International Relations Department at Kherson State University, began her participation in the international program CREAPOLIS Malta 2026, which is taking place in Malta.

The program is implemented by Culture Venture and b.creative with the support of the ERSTE Foundation. Yevheniia Revenko became one of 18 participants selected by the organizers following a competitive review of applications from all over Ukraine.

The work began at the European Parliament office in Valletta, where the program was officially opened. This was the location of the first substantive discussion on civic literacy, democratic participation, the role of culture in local community life, and its place within the broader European context.

Among the discussion participants were:

  • Glenn Micallef — European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport;

  • Valerie Visanich — Professor at the University of Malta;

  • Daniel Azzopardi — Strategy Director at Arts Council Malta.

The first day's program also included activities at MUŻA – the National Community Art Museum of Malta, focusing on cultural heritage

 management approaches and modern models of interaction between cultural institutions and the audience.

A distinct highlight of the day is a visit to Teatru Manoel – Malta's National Theatre, one of the country's key cultural venues. Here, participants learn how an historic cultural institution combines heritage preservation, contemporary programming, artistic collaboration, and social responsibility.

The day concludes with a meeting with local artists and representatives of the cultural sector, joined by Arts Council Malta. The focus is on the development conditions for cultural and creative industries, institutional support models, partnerships, and opportunities for international collaboration.

"For Kherson State University, the topics of this program are of very practical significance. Over recent years, we have learned firsthand how essential it is for an institution to preserve its community, identity, memory, and connection to its region under extraordinarily challenging conditions.

Therefore, conversations about public value, institutional resilience, culture, education, and community engagement are not abstract for us. They address how to keep people united around the university, how to sustain a sense of belonging to one's city and region, and how to preserve institutional memory while building new models for development.

I wish Yevheniia a productive time in Malta, engaging professional discussions, new contacts, and new opportunities for Kherson State University," noted KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskyi.
