On 26–28 August 2026, Olena Stavenko, Acting Head of the Department of Romance-Germanic Languages and Intercultural Communication at Kherson State University, participated in the international conference “Beyond New Voices: The Future of Children’s Literature in Translation”, held at Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic.
The conference brought together researchers from 21 countries to discuss current issues in children’s literature, translation and intercultural communication.
Olena Stavenko, together with Mariia Andrieieva, a KSU postgraduate alumna and member of the Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Office, presented the paper “Reconstructing the Category of Gender in Literary Texts for Children: Feminist Narratives and Their Intercultural Reception.”
The conference provided an opportunity to present the researchers’ findings to an international academic audience, exchange ideas with scholars from different countries and establish new research contacts. A joint research publication is planned as a follow-up to the collaboration.
The participation also contributes to the implementation of the department’s research initiative “Linguocognitive, Linguocultural, Narratological and Translation Studies Aspects of the Study of Literary and Non-Literary Texts,” launched in 2023 under the supervision of Professor Alla Tsapiv.
