KSU Representatives Presented Research Findings at the XXVIII International Congress of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology in Belgium

PhD student Yevheniia Morozova and lecturer Anastasiia Volianiuk presented their research findings at one of the leading international scientific forums in the field of cross-cultural psychology - the XXVIII International Congress of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP).

The International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP) brings together scholars who study the relationship between culture and psychology. The IACCP Congress is held every two years and serves as an important platform for presenting current research, engaging in academic discussion, sharing expertise, and fostering international academic cooperation.

As part of the Congress, two poster studies were presented:

• AI-facilitated learning interaction in higher education under conditions of displacement

  Authors: Yevheniia Morozova, Anastasiia Volianiuk, Elena Makarova, Oleksandr Spivakovskyi.

• Professional motivation of future teachers under crisis conditions of war and educational displacement

  Authors: Anastasiia Volianiuk, Yevheniia Morozova, Elena Makarova, Liubov Petukhova.

Both studies resulted from international cooperation between Kherson State University and the Institute of Educational Sciences at the University of Basel (Switzerland). The author teams included young researchers from Kherson State University, their academic supervisors, and Professor Elena Makarova, Director of the Institute of Educational Sciences at the University of Basel.

The presented studies address pressing issues related to the functioning of education under conditions of war and educational displacement, the professional motivation of future teachers, and the use of artificial intelligence to support learning interaction in higher education institutions.

During the poster session, the studies attracted professional interest among Congress participants. Particular attention was given to issues related to organizing the educational process under conditions of educational displacement, the motivation of future educators, and the potential of artificial intelligence in educational environments. Presenting the findings provided an opportunity for academic exchange and discussion of the Ukrainian experience with researchers from different countries.

In addition to presenting their own research, the representatives of Kherson State University participated in thematic symposia and the Flash Talks session devoted to current issues in cross-cultural psychology, including acculturation, migration, educational adaptation, and the role of culture and digital technologies in the development of children and young people.

The thematic sessions attended by the researchers included:

• Flash Talks - Acculturation;

• How School and Classroom Environments Shape Children’s Values: Insights from Switzerland, Nigeria, and Belgium;

• Migration, Acculturation, and School Adjustment: Empirical Evidence Across Countries;

• Culture, Media, and Development: Digital Technologies as Cultural Tools Shaping Youth Socialization Across Contexts.

Participation in the academic discussions provided an opportunity to learn about current international research, exchange experiences with scholars from different countries, and deepen understanding of the processes of acculturation, migration, educational adaptation, cultural interaction, and the impact of digital technologies on youth development.

For Kherson State University, participation in such international academic forums is of particular importance. Despite relocation and the challenges caused by the war, the University continues to develop its research capacity, establish international partnerships, integrate into the global academic community, and present Ukrainian research findings at the international level.

An important component of this work is the cooperation between Kherson State University and the Institute of Educational Sciences at the University of Basel, which creates opportunities for joint research initiatives, international academic exchange, and the representation of Ukrainian research experience in the global academic community.

We congratulate Yevheniia Morozova and Anastasiia Volianiuk on the successful presentation of their research findings at the XXVIII International Congress of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology and wish them further academic achievements, international partnerships, and promising joint projects.
