KSU became a partner in the international project Project AI-Lab-Connect
Kherson State University has received official confirmation of funding for the joint international project Project AI-Lab-Connect, which will be implemented in partnership with the German Artificial Intelligence Center Hamburg (ARIC), Melitopol Bohdan Khmelnytskyi State Pedagogical University, and Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University.
As KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskyi reported, the project, funded by the German Aerospace Center (DLR), is designed for three years: from September 2026 to August 2029. The budget for KSU is 78,766 euros.
"But for me, the most important thing is that we are creating not just another project about artificial intelligence. We are forming an environment in which knowledge will be transformed into technologies, technologies — into practical solutions, and university science — into real benefit for people, business, and society", – noted Oleksandr Spivakovskyi.
According to him, a modern physical and cloud-based AI Lab will be created at KSU, providing access to GPUs and open artificial intelligence models. Educational modules in generative AI, Data Science, autonomous AI agents, and knowledge graphs will also be developed; work will be carried out on a prototype of a personal AI assistant, explainable artificial intelligence tools, and solutions for business, education, medicine, and local government bodies.
The project also involves the procurement of equipment, a study visit to artificial intelligence laboratories in Germany, conducting workshops, creating a repository of open data and AI models, and preparing scientific publications in Scopus and Web of Science journals.
The KSU research group includes Oleksandr Spivakovskyi, Vitalii Kobets, Nataliia Valko, Oleksandr Lemeshchuk, Maksym Poltoratskyi, and Dmytro Volyk.
"It is especially important that KSU is not just a participant in the consortium, but a responsible partner and a key executor of a number of areas — from needs analysis and educational content development to the creation of the AI Lab, technology transfer, and the practical implementation of AI models.
For a university operating under the conditions of war and relocation, this is much more than a grant. It is an investment in KSU's intellectual capital, in our researchers and students, and in the ability not only to maintain resilience but also to create the future.
Artificial intelligence should not remain merely a subject of conversation. It must become a tool for development.
And we are taking the next step to make this a reality", – noted Oleksandr Spivakovskyi.
