Modern challenges – motivation for personal success
It was on exactly this topic that a motivational lecture by the Rector of KSU, Oleksandr Spivakovsky, took place at the opening of the Summer School of Professional Development of Kherson State University.
"I prepare thoroughly for every such lecture. Sometimes it takes four to five textual iterations. In the fifth year of the full-scale war, it is very important to find not just the right words, but the meanings that will help unite people, give them the strength to move forward, and not lose faith in their own abilities. Especially when part of the audience is nearby, and part is on the other side of the screen. Through the monitor, one must convey not only thoughts but also energy. That is why I never read a lecture from a piece of paper. A prepared text is merely a framework. After that, a live dialogue begins," – noted /Oleksandr Spivakovskyi.
During the lecture, the speaker touched upon how the very nature of challenges has changed over recent years. First the pandemic, and then the war, showed that the world more and more frequently places us in situations for which no ready-made scenarios exist. That is why today it is important not only to find answers to problems but also to learn how to change the system itself so that it becomes more resilient to new challenges.
Among other things, the speaker focused on four possible scenarios of human behavior in crisis conditions: capitulation, adaptation, active response, and asymmetric resilience.
It is the last scenario, according to the lecturer, that allows not just to react to circumstances, but to change the rules of the game, to build new systems based on trust, partnership, digitalization, and a strong academic community.
The role of digital transformation, international partnerships, and artificial intelligence was discussed separately. Technologies themselves do not solve problems. They become a true force only when they help maintain the continuity of education, teach how to think, ask the right questions, and make responsible decisions.
And finally—about motivation.
"For me, personal success is not measured by position, diplomas, or status. It is the ability to remain effective when old scenarios no longer work. It is the ability to create trust, unite people, build partnerships, and be useful to others. Because true motivation begins not with the phrase «I can», but with the question: «For what purpose must I do this?». When you find the answer to it, an inner strength to move forward appears, even if there is no ready-made plan.

It is from such meetings that a community is born—one that does not wait for ready-made solutions but creates them itself," – summarized Oleksandr Spivakovskyi.
