Experience of resilience and development: KSU Vice-rector delivered a guest lecture at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv

The theme of the meeting was «Transformed Everyday Life during Wartime: Resistance, Resilience, and the Development of Kherson State University». During the lecture, the speaker spoke about KSU's activities under the conditions of full-scale war, the challenges of the occupation of Kherson, and the forced displacement of the university.

Daria Malchykova paid special attention to the realities of life under occupation: the militarization of public space, lawlessness and threats of kidnapping and physical violence, the lack of access to Ukrainian mobile communications and media, problems with humanitarian aid, and the cessation of operations of local enterprises and the banking system. There was also mention of the transformation of Kherson's urban identity and symbolic space.

The Vice-Rector also shared her experience in organizing the educational process under the conditions of war and relocation, emphasizing that the university did not stop teaching for a single day. She spoke about how, after the displacement, KSU managed to build up the work of teachers and structural units, and establish internal systems and business processes. Specifically, she discussed the organization of student learning in new conditions, including combining distance learning with weeks of in-person classes, which allows for maintaining live interaction between students and teachers.

At the same time, the focus of the conversation was on the resistance, resilience of the university community, and the development of KSU despite the challenges of war.

The Vice-Rector expressed gratitude to the Faculty of Geography of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv for the invitation, openness to dialogue, and the opportunity to share the experience of a university community that continues to work, teach, and develop under the conditions of war.
