From technology to your own brand: KSU is developing the field of craft production
At Kherson State University, in the specialty «Craft Production and Food Technologies», students are mastering technologies for creating high-quality products and learning to develop their own brand in the hospitality industry.
One of the practical examples of such an approach was "Taste of Kherson Region" – a natural coriander honey with its own name and design. The initiative belongs to the Department of Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Business, led by Head Valentyna Burak, a resident of Chornobaivka.
According to Valentyna Burak, the specialty of the product lies in the fact that such honey is produced once every ten years. It is obtained from coriander flower nectar, and its characteristic features include a distinct aroma and spicy notes in the taste.
For future specialists, this is an opportunity to practically familiarize themselves with all the stages of working on craft products – from the technology of their creation to positioning and presentation in the hospitality industry. Such experience helps to form professional and entrepreneurial competencies necessary for implementing one's own ideas.
At the same time, the name "Taste of Kherson Region" emphasizes the connection of the university community with its native land. Through such initiatives, KSU preserves the Kherson identity, supports interest in local traditions, and tells about the region's potential beyond its borders.

One of the first to receive "Taste of Kherson Region" was the Rector of KSU, Oleksandr Spivakovsky. He supported the department's initiative and its desire to combine professional training for students with a practical component.
"Training at Kherson State University opens up opportunities for those who strive for more. We work and teach for the Kherson region, promoting our region!" emphasized Oleksandr Spivakovsky.
Kateryna Melnykova, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, noted that special attention is paid here to preparing students for the implementation of their own projects. They learn how to work on creating and positioning a product, as well as mastering the principles of its promotion.
"For us, it is important that education provides young people with the tools for professional realization and the implementation of their own initiatives. That is why we create an environment where students can apply knowledge in practice, seek non-standard solutions, and form their own professional trajectory. We invite applicants who strive to develop, create their own projects, and implement ideas together with the Faculty of Business and Law of KSU," noted Kateryna Melnykova.
