The Rector of KSU spoke at an event dedicated to the democratic principles of the Ukrainian-American academic partnership
The Rector of Kherson State University participated in the Scientific Round Table "Democratic Foundations of Ukrainian-American Academic Partnership: From Shared Values to Innovation", which took place at the King Danylo University.
The event brought together rectors of higher education institutions of Prykarpattia, representatives of the Ukrainian academic community, universities of the United States of America, and representatives of the American diplomatic community.
“For us, it is extremely important that even in the conditions of full-scale war, international academic cooperation is not only preserved but also developed. Ukrainian universities today are not just educational institutions. We have become spaces of resilience, support for youth, formation of democratic values, and platforms for the development of international partnership”, – emphasized KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskyi.
During the round table, participants spoke about the mission of universities in times of war and the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, about the role of academic diplomacy, trust, inter-university interaction, and shared responsibility for the future of the democratic world.
In his speech, Rector Oleksandr Spivakovskyi emphasized the mission of universities as institutions that shape a young person's worldview. When a diploma – is not just a piece of paper, but capitalization based on democratic values.
Particular attention was paid to practical formats of cooperation between Ukrainian and American universities:
- COIL projects;
- Visiting Lectures;
- academic mobility programs;
- joint research and international educational initiatives.
“Ukrainian universities have successful experience in cooperation with universities of the European Union countries through the ERASMUS+ program. The fact that today we are talking about establishing contacts with US universities – is a very positive moment that deserves support at the highest level. For Kherson State University, the development of international partnership is one of the key areas of activity. To a large extent, thanks to the support of our foreign partners, the university was able not only to withstand the conditions of relocation but also to continue developing, in particular through the implementation of international projects. I thank the event organizers for the opportunity to join this important professional dialogue and all the partners who today support Ukrainian education, science, and our state”, – emphasized the KSU Rector.
