The KSU community gathered to celebrate Vyshyvanka Day
At Kherson State University, a solemn event for Vyshyvanka Day – «Vyshyvanka unites: the voice of KSU students», which brought together students, faculty, and staff of the institution, took place.
This year, Vyshyvanka Day celebrates its 20th anniversary, highlighting the special role of the holiday in modern society. The event was aimed at uniting the student community, presenting the activities of student self-governance bodies, and creating a space for open communication.
The event began with the Anthem of Ukraine and a minute of silence to honor the fallen defenders of Ukraine and civilians who became victims of Russian aggression.
The organizer was the humanitarian department of KSU; the event was moderated by Veronika Denysenko, Vice-Rector for Social and Humanitarian Affairs, along with Anastasia Kalashnikova, Head of the Student Parliament, and Illia Muzyka, Head of the Student Council of the Faculty of Biology, Geography, and Ecology.
«A student initiative that arose 20 years ago at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University has now transformed into a patriotic action honoring the vyshyvanka that unites Ukrainians and is supported by the whole world. This is another example of how youth ideas have a colossal impact on society. Especially when it comes to defining one's identity, expressing respect for history, and the ancestral struggle of Ukrainians for independence and freedom. Ukrainians – are a unique nation, always positioned between those who want to destroy us and the civilized world that upholds the values of freedom and respect for humanity. Residents of Kherson remember what it is like to be under occupation and not have the right to wear an embroidered shirt or speak Ukrainian», — emphasized KSU Rector Oleksandr Spivakovsky.
KSU students recited their own poems. There were also musical greetings, in particular from KSU lecturer, Merited Artist of Ukraine Oleksii Ponomariov and others, including invited guests. There was also a musical gift from Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University – a performance by the «Concertino» accordion duet, consisting of Myron Cherepanin and Maryna Bulda.
Additionally, all interested participants had the opportunity to take part in an interactive activity and test their knowledge of Ukrainian culture history and more. The winners will receive gifts.
Furthermore, as part of the event, there was a presentation of:
- the KSU student parliament;
- the student trade union organization;
- the student ombudsman.
