KSU participated in the first regional conference of young scientists

Representatives of the council of young scientists under the Kherson Regional State (Military) Administration, heads of institutions of higher and professional pre-higher education, scientific institutions, researchers of educational institutions, representatives of education management bodies, and higher education students joined the conference. Also among the participants are representatives of Kherson State University.

The conference was moderated by Olena Danylova, head of the Department of Education and．Science of the Kherson Regional State Administration.

Volodymyr Klyutsevsky, Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, addressed the attendees with a welcoming word. He emphasized the importance of the role of young scientists in the development of modern science and highlighted the significance of combining science and practice for the restoration of the Kherson region.

«Today for the Kherson region, considering that it is at the stage of restoration, the combination of science and practice is very important, because without understanding modern trends, without developing non-standard solutions, both in strategic planning and in current activities, it is very difficult to move forward», – noted Volodymyr Klyutsevsky.

According to Volodymyr Klyutsevsky, today modern approaches to scientific activity, the development of information technologies, international cooperation, and the internationalization of scientific research are particularly important. He also thanked scientific supervisors and mentors who accompany young researchers and help them develop in their profession.

Oleksandr Spivakovsky, Rector of Kherson State University, during his speech noted that today the Kherson region continues to preserve its intellectual potential despite the war, occupation, losses, and destruction.

He emphasized that the universities of the region continue to work, teachers — to teach, and young scientists — to research and believe in the future of Ukraine. According to him, science today is not only a sphere of research and publications but also a component of security, independence, and the restoration of the state.

«Kherson region is alive. Kherson region thinks. Kherson region teaches. Kherson region researches. Kherson region holds on. Despite the war. Despite the occupation. Despite losses and destruction. Today our region is experiencing one of the most difficult periods of its history. But even in these conditions, we see an extremely important thing — the Kherson region has not lost its intellectual core», – emphasized Oleksandr Spivakovsky.

He also added that today universities are becoming a space for national resilience, and young scientists are forming the future of the state. According to the Rector of KSU, it is precisely the generation that goes through great trials that later forms great nations.

Oleksandr Spivakovsky emphasized that it is exactly the young generation of scientists who will have to rebuild the economy, education, medicine, infrastructure, and other spheres of life in Southern Ukraine after the war.

"Once historians will write not only about the battles for Kherson. They will write about how the Kherson region was able to preserve education, science, and human dignity even in the most difficult times. And this is already part of our shared history.

Dear Kherson region! Today we may be geographically far from each other. But we remain a single academic community. A single educational space. A single team. And I am convinced: the day will come when free Ukrainian Kherson will again become a powerful university, scientific, and youth center of southern Ukraine. And this day is being brought closer not only by the military. It is being brought closer by teachers. Lecters. Students. Scientists. Everyone who every day holds the humanitarian and intellectual front of Ukraine.

Thank you to everyone who did not break. Thank you to everyone who continues to work. Thank you to everyone who believes in the Kherson region", – summarized Oleksandr Spivakovsky.

Oleksandr Sapronov, Head of the Council of Young Scientists under the Kherson Regional State Administration, drew attention to the challenges that Ukrainian science is facing today under the conditions of full-scale war.

He noted that despite the destruction of infrastructure, the relocation of educational institutions, and limited access to equipment, Ukrainian scientists continue their research, publish results in international publications, participate in grant programs, and implement developments for the needs of the state.

«It is particularly important to note the role of young scientists. It is the youth that today is not only the future of science but its active driving force. Young scientists of the Kherson region demonstrate an example of professional resilience, adaptability, and responsibility to the state», – emphasized Oleksandr Sapronov.

Separately, Oleksandr Sapronov emphasized that science today is one of the key tools for the post-war restoration of Ukraine and an important investment in the security, economy, and technological independence of the country.

During the conference, Oleksandr Sapronov passed the baton of congratulations to a young scientist from the Kherson region, meteorologist Serhii Yakushchenko, who has twice visited and is currently part of the 31st Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition at the «Akademik Vernadsky» station.

Serhii Yakushchenko wished the participants fruitful work, lively discussions, and new scientific discoveries, and also expressed hope that the conference would become an impulse for innovative ideas and bold decisions.

Within the framework of the conference, Doctor of Philosophy, lecturer at Kherson State University, and Deputy Head of the Council of Young Scientists under the Kherson Regional State Administration Tamara Mandych spoke. She presented the topic «Ukrainian language in the urban space: non-norms in announcement texts» and demonstrated examples of linguistic errors in announcements.

The First Prorector of KSU, Serhii Omelchuk, emphasized the importance of the correct use of the Ukrainian language not only by philology specialists but also by representatives of other professional spheres.

According to Serhii Omelchuk, KSU scientists have developed a practical guide for non-philologists, «Let us write correctly with the language,» which contains 31 tips on correct word usage. And it is an important resource for increasing the level of linguistic culture.

The First Prorector also emphasized KSU's readiness for cooperation and conducting thematic meetings within the framework of a professional development school for all interested parties.
