Last week, Kherson State University hosted Open Day, which brought together about 300 participants. The event was held for the second time so that future applicants could receive up-to-date information about admissions, familiarize themselves with the university's educational opportunities, and feel its atmosphere.

Following the event, an analysis of the results of career guidance work was conducted. As noted by Veronika Denysenko, Vice-Rector for Social-Humanitarian and Scientific-Pedagogical Work, the largest share of participants were representatives of general secondary education institutions — 48.53%. At the same time, 20.10% consisted of students of professional pre-higher education, 16.67% — higher education institutions, and another 14.71% — other categories.

The geography of participants demonstrated a wide interest in the event. More than half were representatives from Kherson and the Kherson region — about 55.6%. Participants from Ivano-Frankivsk and its region (16.2%), Lviv (9.3%), and other cities in Ukraine, including Kyiv, Odesa, Vinnytsia, and Dnipro (11.6%), also joined. Separately, participants from abroad — Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany — were represented.

Among the specialties, pedagogical directions attracted the greatest interest — 41.95%. Psychology (11.22%), philology and foreign languages (9.27%), physical culture and rehabilitation (6.83%), as well as IT and computer sciences (5.37%) were also popular.

An analysis of communication channels showed that the vast majority of participants learned about the event from teachers or administrations of educational institutions — 73.72%. Other sources included Telegram (10.29%), recommendations from friends and acquaintances (5.71%), as well as the university's official website and Facebook (4% each). Instagram and TikTok had less impact.

After the event, all registered participants were sent presentation materials and provided with access to the Telegram channel «KSU Applicants 2026» for further communication. Participants also received contact information for the admissions committee for individual consultations.

Additional information regarding the rules and specifics of the admission campaign was passed to the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Veteran Space «Veteran PRO» and the Department for the Support of Veterans and Demobilized Persons of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council.

According to Veronika Denysenko, the analysis results allow for better adaptation of the university's career guidance work, strengthening communication with potential applicants, and expanding the geography of similar events in the future.
