Rector of KSU joined the memorial seminar in memory of Zinaida Slepkan
On April 23, a solemn seminar was held, organized by the NGO «International Association of Researchers in Mathematics Didactics», dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Zinaida Slepkán. Academic protégés, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren of Zinaida Ivanivna joined the event.
Also among those present is the Rector of KSU, Oleksandr Spivakovsky. For it was Zinaida Slepkán precisely who was his scientific advisor during the defense of his doctoral dissertation.
Professor of Mathematics, the prominent Ukrainian scientist Vasyl Shvets set a very warm tone for the memories of Zinaida Ivanivna, which were picked up by the scientist's students and colleagues.
Speaking before the assembly, Oleksandr Spivakovsky emphasized that we do not always remember what teachers tell us, but we always remember how they did it.
"It is the teacher who forms motivation and inspiration. Such a person of meaning and dedication to science was Zinaida Ivanivna Slepkán - Doctor of Sciences, Professor, one of the key figures of the Ukrainian scientific school of mathematics teaching methodology, who had extensive management experience in higher education.
I thank fate for having had the honor to know, communicate, and cooperate with such a person. She was my scientific advisor during the defense of my doctoral dissertation. Her influence, advice, and structured approach to scientific research became a significant contribution to my work.
And so I also recalled the year 1998, her arrival in Kherson with Mariia Kupriianivna Sheremet, a professor and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences. I remember our visit to Kardashynka, conversations, exchange of ideas, and reflections on the philosophy of development… Then and afterwards, we discussed many times the methodology of teaching mathematics and informatics, and the structure of my scientific work. Zinaida Ivanivna made a strong impression on me: she was a true, deep, and upright person. Her contribution to the development of Ukraine is colossal: over 200 scientific and methodological works; she raised 5 doctors, 30 candidates of sciences, hundreds of teachers, methodologists, and lecturers…
Zinaida Ivanivna passed away in 2008, but a person lives as long as they are remembered… We remember and we thank you.
