Historians of KSU presented a publication about the resistance of Kherson residents in the first days of the full-scale invasion
At the Kherson Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Oles Horchar, a pre-presentation of the publication – «Kherson: Path of Patriots» by historians of Kherson State University took place. The event was held as part of the project «History Evenings with Honcharivka».
The authors of the book – Professor Oleksandr Cheremisin and Associate Professor Halyna Mykhailenko. They presented the results of a deep analytical-documentary study. This publication is an attempt to preserve memory and scientifically comprehend the events that took place in Kherson in the first days and weeks of the full-scale invasion. Kherson did not simply find itself among the first captured cities – it demonstrated a high level of civic agency. «Kherson: Path of Patriots» – is not only a chronicle of events, but also a combination of scientific analysis with live testimonies of people who met the full-scale war in the very epicenter of the events.
Work on the book began in 2023 with a search for eyewitnesses and participants of the events. The authors noted that they sought to convey the facts as objectively as possible – without assessments or their own interpretations.
This publication emerges not only as a documentary reconstruction of events, but as an attempt to comprehend the human experience in moments of trial, when heroism and sacrifice are revealed. All the people mentioned in the book – are true heroes. This is a kind of gratitude to everyone who joined the defense of the city.
The book consists of a prologue, three chapters, and an afterword.
