At KhSU they talked about archaeology and the preservation of cultural heritage
A meeting of members of the expert group on the preservation of the collection of the KhSU archaeological museum during the occupation, which works at our university, with applicants and teachers of the Faculty of Psychology, History and Sociology, took place at Kherson State University.
The meeting was held in the format of an open dialogue between members of the expert commission and applicants of the faculty.
Senior Research Fellow, Scientific Secretary of the Department of Early Iron Age of the Institute of Archaeology of the NASU Olena Dzneladze spoke about the institute's research during the war. She also presented a presentation: "Atlas of Late Scythian Monuments of the Lower Dnieper".
The participants paid special attention to the topic of preserving cultural heritage in southern Ukraine. Deputy Head of the Regional Inspectorate for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Department for the Implementation of Humanitarian Policy of the KhOVA Denis Sikoza spoke about the work on recording the destruction of cultural monuments in Kherson caused by Russian aggression.
Documenting such facts is important not only for science, but also for the further restoration and international recording of crimes against cultural heritage.
During the event, experts also shared the nuances of the work of the expert group on the preservation of the collection of the KhSU Archaeological Museum. They noted that the decision of the university rector to evacuate the collection is absolutely correct and legal, since such collections are subject to evacuation in the first place.
The participants of the round table also had the opportunity to ask questions to specialists.
As noted by the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, History and Sociology Iryna Shaposhnikova, such meetings are extremely important for students. This is a unique opportunity to hear firsthand about the work of specialists, learn more about modern research and the current challenges that science faces during war.
