Meeting of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Education!

On May 21, 2025, the Faculty of Pedagogy held an unscheduled meeting of the Academic Council, during which important issues were discussed regarding the update of educational programs at all levels of higher education, their regulatory alignment, as well as organizational aspects of the educational process, internships, and scientific activity.

The meeting was opened by the Dean of the Faculty, Liubov Petukhova, after which the discussion began on changes to second-cycle (Master’s level) educational programs.

Nataliia Kabelnikova, head of the educational program in specialty A6 Special Education, reported on the analysis of practices at other universities, the work done on content updates, and proposed changes to the professional and elective training cycles, emphasizing the need to strengthen the professional component.

Nataliia Voropai, head of the program in specialty A3 Primary Education, reported on changes in the ratio of mandatory and elective components, which resulted from discussions with stakeholders, the academic community, and representatives of other higher education institutions.

Tetiana Shvets, head of the program in specialty A2 Preschool Education, also highlighted the need to redistribute credits among components and to align with the requirements of the second-level higher education standard.

The second item addressed updates to educational programs across all three levels of higher education.

Liudmyla Perminova presented updates to the educational program in specialty A1 Educational Sciences (third cycle), in particular improvements to resource provision.

Olena Anisimova, head of the bachelor's program in specialty A2 Preschool Education, reported on the outcomes of stakeholder meetings and incorporated suggestions. Notably, the volume of practical training was increased, a course in basic military training was introduced, the amount of philosophy coursework was reduced in favor of professional subjects, and several components were renamed and updated in content. Writing two term papers was also recommended as mandatory.

Nataliia Voropai presented changes to the A3 Primary Education bachelor's program: program codes were updated, a new competence and learning outcome related to anti-corruption education were added, and stakeholder proposals were considered.

Nataliia Kabelnikova reported on updates to the bachelor's programs in specialty A6 Special Education. The first-year curriculum was aligned with A3 and A2 programs to enable college graduates to transfer into the second year. Changes also included practice schedule adjustments, expansion of professional training cycles, and updates to the names and structures of specializations (“speech therapy,” “corrective psycho-pedagogy”) in accordance with recommendations from the educational-methodological department and the professional standard.

A separate item addressed the approval of updated Master’s-level educational programs. Tetiana Shvets (A2), Nataliia Voropai (A3), and Nataliia Kabelnikova (A6) reported on the renewal of the working group (including students and a graduate), expansion of subject areas, increased focus on inclusive education, and incorporation of academic mobility opportunities.

Under the third item, Olena Sagan summarized the outcomes of the scientific-practical conference with international participation. It was recommended to compile a collection of conference materials following an additional check for academic integrity.

In the “Miscellaneous” section, Iryna Hrytsenko reported on the progress of student internships and the organization of the reporting conference. Liubov Petukhova, in turn, emphasized the importance of in-person internships for final-year students and called for the intensification of career guidance efforts.
