On the anniversary of the birthday of the outstanding Ukrainian poet and a significant historical figure for our nation, Taras Shevchenko, KSU English Speaking Club was dedicated to “Figures in History Everyone Knows”.

Our regular guest from the United States, Eric Matherly, joined the event and was happy to talk to KSU students and staff. We discussed the importance of prominent historical figures, shared our thoughts on which famous personality influenced everyone's life the most, and repeatedly heard the names of Stepan Bandera, Taras Shevchenko, and Volodymyr Zelenskyi! Finally, we discussed the history lessons. Some believed that they help to avoid mistakes in the future, while others were sceptical about people's ability to learn in this way. However, everyone agreed that it is necessary to study history using only reliable and trusted sources!
