Sizing up the 8th International conference “ICT in Education, Research and Industrial Applications: INTEGRATION, HARMONIZATION and KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER” ICTERI 2012 (6 – 10th of June, 2012) at Kherson State University
Kherson State University played as host during the 8th International conference “ICT in Education, Research and Industrial Applications: INTEGRATION, HARMONIZATION and KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER” ICTERI 2012 (6 – 10th of June, 2012). The conference has become the annual occurrence for our University in whole and for Informatics department in particular. This year’s conference became a really outstanding event held in accordance with international standards. Both plenary and break-up groups’ presentations as well as all the conference submissions were in English. This year ICTERI has attracted a substantial number of submissions – 70 of them were presented during the plenary sessions, work-shops and two Skype-conferences. The best articles, submitted and reviewed via EasyChair system, were presented in the international scientific edition of Springer. The rest of the articles composed the electronic proceedings of the conference (CEUR-WS Vol 848), which was for the first time indexed by the world-known bibliographic service DBLP. All conference presentations and annotations are to appear at e-resource ICTERI Wiki, so that everyone could easily look them through.
On the 7th of June the conference was opened with a formal ceremony. The Chair of the ICTERI Program Committee, first vice-rector of KSU, professor Alexander Spivakovsky delivered the welcoming speech greeting the guests of this year’s conference. They came to our University from Finland, Slovakia, Iraq, Russian Federation, France, Great Britain and, of course, Ukraine. A.Spivakovsky also rewarded the best student 2012 of Informatics specialty, Viktor Yaroshenko, with up-to-date notebook. The rector of Kherson National Technical University, professor Yuriy Bardachov also welcomed the guests of ICTERI 2012. For years KSU and KNTU have been safe partners in international and other joint projects. The first conference day was notable by the address on "Formal Foundation for RDF Evolution and Repair" by keynote speaker Grigoris Antoniou from the University of Huddersfield, Great Britain. There were also six breakup groups’ sessions on this very day.
On the 8th of June the second plenary session was opened by report on "Abstraction and Verification of Properties of Real-Time Java" by Martin Strecker (Paul Sabatier University,Toulouse,France). Twelve breakup groups sessions preceded the conference.
The ICTERI Program Committee members: A.Spivakovsky (Kherson State University), V.Ermolayev (Zaporozhye National University), M.Nikitchenko (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), G.Zholtkevich (V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University) together with keynote speakers Grigoris Antoniou and Martin Strecker payed a visit to the KSU rector professor O.Khodosovtsev. The questions of the value of ICTERI for our University, development of cooperation etc were discussed during the meeting.
