International scientific and practical conference

‘The Kakhovka Reservoir Disaster: A Perspective for the Future’

Dear colleagues!
We invite scientists, researchers, teachers, young scientists, doctoral students, postgraduates, applicants of all levels of higher education, representatives of public authorities and NGOs to take part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference.
The main directions of the conference:
- Revitalisation of the river, biodiversity and habitats: observations and conclusions.
- Social and environmental consequences of the disaster: regional and local development and recovery strategies
- Transformation of the economy: ways of development ‘without water’.

The scientific framework of the conference: It will soon be two years since the Kakhovka Reservoir disaster occurred as a result of the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. What has happened since then? What are the consequences today, what has changed, and what can we expect in the future? Many questions remain open, some are already a fact of life, and we aim to form an interdisciplinary discourse: how nature in general and people in particular have been developing in the new conditions during the two years without a dam.

The 65th Annual Symposium of the International Association of Vegetation Science (IAVS) was held in Coffs Harbour, east coast of Australia, from 4 to 8 September 2023.

The expedition of Kherson State University to study the biodiversity of cultural heritage sites, which lasted from 6 to 10 September 2023, has ended. . Professor Ivan Moisienko, PhD student Nadiia Skobel, and students Olena Shchepeleva and Nataliia Velychko (all from Kherson State University) took part in the expedition. The first part of the expedition was mainly devoted to the study of the Zmievy Vales in Kyiv region. So far, the flora of 4 earthen ramparts has been studied: Zmievi Valls on the territory of Feodosia and Tsyblyvka territorial communities, as well as earthen ramparts of the settlements in Vasylkiv and Bilohorodka village. Steppe areas on the Zmievy Vals on the territory of Makarivska ATC have not yet been identified

The Summer School Biodiversity Monitoring, in which students from Switzerland, Poland and Ukraine participate, has completed its work in Switzerland.

"Consequences of the Chernobyl disaster: the present." Seminar on department of human biology and immunology

On April 28, on the basis of the Faculty of Biology, Geography and Ecology, a consultation on preparation for the NMT in biology was held for future entrants of KhSU.

  Our first-year geography students have successfully started their scientific career, and an international one at that, by speaking at the All-Ukrainian English-language conference "ECOLOGY IS A PRIORITY" held by V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University on 19 April.
