According to the order of the rector of the university, Professor O.V. Mishukov No. 776-D dated September 14, 2011, a new department of medical and biological foundations of physical education and sports was created at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports. Candidate of Sciences in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor Serhiy Stepanovych Vozny was appointed as the head of the department. From April 1, 2024, Associate Professor Golyak Serhiy Kindratovich was elected as the head of the department
The teachers of the department ensure the implementation of the educational process in the preparation of applicants for the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education in the following specialties: A4 Secondary education, subject specialty A4.11 Physical Culture (1st year), 014 Secondary education, specializations 014.11 Physical Culture (2-4 years) and specialties A7 Physical Culture and Sports (1st year), 017 Physical Culture and Sports (2-4 years). Physical education classes for 1st year applicants of the university's faculties.

On October 11, 2024, the Kherson State University Chess Championship was held among university degree holders. The competition was organized by the head of the Department of Medical and Biological Basics of Physical Education and Sports, Serhiy Goliaka. This competition interested the youth of the university, who took an active part.
The other day, another meeting of the department was held, where urgent issues of the educational process were discussed, in particular, the involvement of young people in sports competitions.
