Dear Professors and Students!

We invite you to participate in the All-Ukrainian Student Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues in Natural and Mathematical Education in Secondary and Higher Schools”, which will take place on April 18-19, 2013, at Kherson State University.

Planned Conference Topics:

• The quality of natural and mathematical education as a scientific and social priority.
• Innovative approaches to reforming and improving the content of natural science education in secondary and higher education.
• Teaching technologies for natural and mathematical disciplines in schools and universities.
• Educational experiments in natural and mathematical education.
• Designing the educational process for natural and mathematical disciplines in secondary and higher schools.
• Experience in teaching natural and mathematical disciplines in foreign educational institutions.

The conference materials will be published in a scientific proceedings collection.

Participation Requirements:

Participants wishing to attend the conference must submit the following materials by March 25, 2013, to:

Required Documents:

1. Application for participation and author information, indicating the number of days of stay in Kherson.
2. The article text for publication in the conference proceedings (both in electronic and printed formats).

The Organizing Committee requests participants to inform about their arrival date and the number of attendees at least 15 days in advance to arrange dormitory accommodations. Accommodation fees can be paid upon registration.

Article Submission Guidelines

The article should include:

• Relevance of the topic.
• Research objectives.
• Tasks set during the study.
• Results for each task.
• Conclusions.
• Possible directions for further research.

Formatting Requirements:

• Language: Ukrainian or Russian.
• Minimum length: 3 full pages.
• Paper size: A4 (21 cm × 29.7 cm).
• Margins: Top and bottom – 20 mm, right – 15 mm, left – 30 mm.
• Line spacing: 1.5
• Font: Times New Roman, size 14, in rtf or doc format (Word for Windows 2003).
• Figures: Must be created using vector graphics and embedded in the text. Scanned images should have a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
• References: Can be listed alphabetically or in order of appearance in the text. Citations should be formatted as follows: [1, p.155].

ORGANIZATION OF STUDENT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN PHYSICS LESSONS

It is well known that physics is one of the most challenging subjects to study, and unfortunately, students’ knowledge levels have been declining each year. This fact necessitates the implementation of new teaching methods, one of which is scientific research in physics lessons. Organizing educational research allows students to acquire knowledge independently, rather than in a ready-made form.

A review of scientific and methodological literature on physics-related research shows that this form of learning receives insufficient attention. The main reasons include limited class time, lack of modern equipment, outdated teaching materials, and insufficient professional training of teachers.

The aim of our article is to explore the potential for conducting physics lessons using research-based approaches to improve students' understanding of the subject. The objectives of the study include:

• Identifying models and possible objects of physics research.
• Describing the methodology for organizing student research activities in physics lessons.
