Academic integrity is the set of values, principles, and rules that participants in academic activities must observe during learning, teaching, and research or creative work.

Regulatory Framework

The Law of Ukraine "On Academic Integrity" (No. 4742-IX) was adopted on December 18, 2025, and entered into force on July 31, 2026.

Key Principles of Academic Integrity

  • honesty and responsibility;
  • independent completion of academic and research work;
  • reliability of results;
  • respect for authorship and intellectual property;
  • proper citation and referencing of sources;
  • transparent and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

Major Violations

Violations of academic integrity include, in particular:

  • academic plagiarism and self-plagiarism;
  • fabrication and falsification;
  • appropriation of authorship;
  • cheating and completing assignments without independent effort;
  • dishonest assessment practices;
  • academic sabotage;
  • incitement to violate academic integrity.

Upholding academic integrity is the shared responsibility of all participants in the educational and research process.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

The use of artificial intelligence in educational and research activities must be responsible and transparent, and must align with the principles of academic integrity.

When using artificial intelligence tools, it is necessary to:

  • verify the reliability of the information obtained;
  • not present generated content as one's own work without proper attribution;
  • adhere to rules regarding citation and referencing of sources;
  • disclose the use of artificial intelligence in cases stipulated by legislation and the university’s internal regulations;
  • refrain from using AI to complete academic or research tasks if doing so violates established requirements.

The author bears responsibility for the content of the academic work, the accuracy of the information presented therein, and adherence to the principles of academic integrity.
